- GESTURAL ARTS OF NATURE: BIRDS
These community workshops were experimental containers for exploring the nature of our local regional birds – their qualities, vocal songs, and interconnectedness to one another. The workshops were conducted as a series of three; with a different focus for each. Lynn led the group through processes to discover the birds more intimately, and integrate that newfound understanding – through a diversity of lenses, including visual representation to sonic expression; written word to dialogued movement; and mask as a vehicle to inhabiting specific bird’s worlds.
GESTURAL ARTS OF NATURE: WATER
A series of two workshops aimed at exploring the nature of water in its different forms: using spontaneous movement generated from spoken-word images; transforming visceral sensations of water into verbs and sounds then to movements; working with polarities within qualities of water, then working with restraint of these movements into containment within a hoop! And using somatic exercises to feel into the emotional temperament of water so to investigate how it may become character, a playful sensory dance into the psychological gesture of water.
The classes incorporated individual, pair and group choreographic devising processes, moving towards their expression as water within a performative landscape for the Northern Rivers region.
