- WELCOME

Every Old Sock Meets and Old Shoe is privileged to be living and working on the lands of the Widjabul/Wia-bal people of the Bundjalung nation. We acknowledge and uphold their continuing relationship to this land.

Every Old Sock Meets an Old Shoe is a container for the writings of Lynn Frances Preston. It was founded in 2017 through the dramaturgical direction given by artist Suzanne Ingleton and La Mama Play Readings, and since, has gone on to have projects presented and performed with La Mama Explorations Season, Melbourne, and Festivals across Australia, including Melbourne International Puppetry Festival and the Adelaide Fringe Festival. These projects have been developed and found expression through somatic gestural arts in nature processes, application of anthroposophical speech practices, physical theatre methodologies and the acting techniques of Michael Chekov.

Stories That Heal and Illuminate

In addition to writing for theatre, Every Old Sock Meets an Old Shoe specialises in the writing of therapeutic stories for young children. Lynn trained with The School of Storytelling, at Emerson College, U.K., finding codes within traditional tales that can act as portals to autobiographical story content; creating enriched narratives. She is currently launching a new course, The Wizard’s Apothecary - Story Writing for Well-being, guiding parents and carers to write stories for wellbeing aimed at children aged 6-8.

The focus of all Every Old Sock Meets an Old Shoe work lies in a kind of spiritual activism that brings psychological balance and healing. The performances move towards clarity and catharsis; acceptance and renewal.

The core principle of the company is to ensoul humanity and in so doing destroy the Ahrimanic forces that seek to tear us from ourselves, instead leading us back to our primal understanding of wholesomeness and interconnection.

The Wizards Apothecary Course

The Wizard’s Apothecary is a 5-week creative writing course for parents and carers of children aged 6–8, designed to help you transform life’s challenges into healing, imaginative stories. Guided by the symbolic and emotional language unique to your family, you’ll learn to craft heartfelt tales that reflect your child’s inner world — stories that inspire resilience, compassion, and creativity. Through playful exploration and supported reflection, you’ll handwrite a personal storybook to gift your child — planting seeds of courage, wonder, and connection that can guide them for years to come.
